Montenegro Mountains & Sea Tour

Enjoy sea kayaking in Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor. Thickly forested mountains rise abruptly from the sea, scattered with ancient mountaintop villages and churches. Bay of Kotor Nick MatthewThe coastline, dotted with historic sites and villages, includes two UNESCO World Heritage sites – the medieval walled city of Kotor and picturesque Perast. Paddle to every nook and cranny in the butterfly shaped bay from your home base, a private waterfront villa in Lepetane village, Lepetane LR
conveniently located at the bay’s mid-point. In addition to well preserved medieval coastal towns, the bay's layers of history include WW II submarine tunnels tucked in its cliffs; the postcard perfect church islands near Perast; Porto Montenegro, Tivat’s glitzy marina, shops and restaurants; and impressive stone fortresses built to defend the bay's narrow entrance from the open sea from seafaring attacks. Climb Kotor’s defensive city walls, built to protect the town from an overland attack, for sweeping views of the entire bay.OARS Tara canyon

The transition from Adriatic coastal life to Montenegro’s mountainous hinterland is an adventure in itself. A series of 23 switchbacks transports you from sea level to Montenegro's rural inland. The final forty minutes of the drive is breathtakingly beautiful, along the deep green Piva River and through natural stone tunnels to your final destination: a cluster of log cabins overlooking the Tara River. White water raft the final 18 km stretch of river with 22 rapids before the river enters Bosnia, stopping to swim in waterfalls. Enjoy the crisp mountain air, feast on hearty meals around an open campfire, and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the fast flowing Tara River. Return to the seaside villa on the Bay of Kotor for a final dose of Adriatic sea and sunshine.waterfall swimming
