Tours accommodate both beginners and experienced kayakers and are led by ACA certified guides. Guide to kayaker ratio is 1:8; minimum age is 16 years, unless accompanied by a parent/ guardian. On average, we paddle 15 km per day. Our tours are noted for their flexibility; additional paddling and skills classes are readily available. There is free time away from the group during the afternoon siesta and in the evenings. Some tours offer flexible meal plans. Alone or as part of the group, you can enjoy simple island villages and beautiful hiking trails, jump off cliffs into the sea, explore hidden coves, or relax with a good book.
What to Pack
The southern Dalmatian coastal climate is Mediterranean: moderate and warm in the spring and fall. The summer months are hot and dry.
Paddlers
Daily paddling gear during the summer months is a swimsuit, Teva-style sandals, sunglasses, a rashguard/ dry wick top (lightweight neoprene in April and October) and sun protection. A lightweight polypropylene or fleece layer should be included on early spring and late fall tours. A re-fillable water botttle is recommended as plastic is not recycled on the islands; tap water is drinkable everywhere. Guesthouses provide linens and towels (but not beach towels); a beach towel is suggested for swimming and beach time.
For Evenings
Attire is generally casual. Pack shorts, lightweight pants, T-shirt, skirt, sundress, sandals, and a sweater or light jacket in spring and fall. Breathable fabrics, like cotton and linen, are recommended during the hottest months of July and August.
Montenegro
The climate and sea temperature on the Bay of Kotor are the same as Croatia's coast and islands. The Tara River Canyon has an inland alpine climate. Pack warm clothing for overnight stays on Best of Balkans and Montenegro Getaway tours: a fleece or spring/fall jacket, close-toed shoes and socks, and long pants. The river water is cold. Wetsuits are provided for rafting.
Campers- Paddle Dalmatia Tour
Pack a sleeping bag, ground pad, and towel(s). You can also rent these items from AKT. Tents are provided by AKT. Camps are equipped with indoor toilet and shower facilities, but towels are not provided.
